Students from Jose Rizal Institute (JRI) – Orani earned medals both in the Heat and Final Rounds of the prestigious Hong Kong International Science Olympiad (HKISO) held online and onsite across Asia on December 08, 2024 and June 14, 2025 respectively.
Emmanuel Diesta (Grade 9), Karl Nathaniel Rabago (Grade 7) and Rouise Gabriel Velasquez (Grade 7) bagged silver and bronze medals, respectively, during the Heat Round of HKISO where participants answered 20 science questions with +4 for every correct answer, -1 for incorrect one, and 0 for unanswered. During the final round, Diesta and Rabago bagged the silver medals while Velasquez earned bronze showcasing their strong performances among the participants. The final round of the HKISO consists of 24 science questions with scoring set at +5 for every correct answer, -1 for wrong answers, and 0 points for unanswered ones. Together with their coaches, Laurence Baltazar and Bernadette Calimag, the JRI – Orani community celebrates the students’ success and for promoting excellence in education particularly in science.
